What is an Inductive Speed Sensor?
Inductive speed sensor is an electrical measuring device that monitors speed and position of rotating objects usually in industry and automation applications. The sensor contains a coil of wires that generate a high-frequency electromagnetic field.
Inductive Speed Sensor Operation Principle
When the ferromagnetic wheel is rotating in front of the sensor, the sinusoidal voltage signal is induced in the coil. This is due to the changing magnetic field generated by a magnet.
Common Application When using Inductive Speed Sensor
Applicable in on and off highway vehicles as well as other industrial equipment.
Sensor Technology Applications include:
- ABS / wheel speed sensors
- Camshaft position sensors
- Crankshaft position sensors
- PTO speed sensors
- Vehicle speed sensors
- Turbocharger speed sensors
