Fundamentals
When an engine operates, the combustion pressure causes gases to leak into the engine case. These gases usually contain unburned fuel, water, and chemical components that can contaminate engine oil or engine components. Therefore, a system to remove these gases becomes necessary.
The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve is a simple system that introduces filtered fresh air into the crankcase. The PCV valve uses the engine’s vacuum to pull air through the crankcase and reintroduce it back into the intake manifold system.
SMP Engineered Solution designs and manufactures PCV valves used in multiple makes and models of engines. PCV valves are available in a variety of fits and forms to suit our customer needs.
